Mark's Non-Recumbent If a bike is Old, British and Steel, preferably with a Sturmey Archer hub gear, I consider it an acceptable alternative to a recumbent. At least for short distances. This 32 year old sweetheart is my latest errand bike. The Wald Newsboy baskets will carry 2 cases of Leinenkugels. To get the low gears I need to get such a load up hills, I replaced the 3 speed hub with a 5 speed and made a custom 25t cog. A 5 LED "blinkie" tail light is protected between the baskets. With just a 2.4 watt halogen headlight to power, the old Union 3w generator is surprizingly effective. Between the baskets and the "Womans" frame, I hope it won't be tempting to the typical bike thief. I still want to add a white handlebar basket with pink flowers to complete the effect. Mark Stonich
