Jeff Caswell's New MicroBike Project

Jeff showed a completed wheel with a Phil Wood hub and 349-16 rim and a home built aero disk cover. It has a BMX freewheel, and he will use identical wheels on the front and back in order to facilitate later addition of a rear supplementary drive system based on electricity or air (?). The intermediate drive uses his old standby Shimano Nexus 7-speed hub with a second sprocket attached to the hub flange on the same side as the regular sprocket. He doesn't have enough experience with it yet to tell if it will be worthwhile to upgrade to the newer 8-speed Nexus, which is supposedly more efficient and has a slightly wider overall range, slightly smaller steps, and a much smaller dead angle before power engages again after a shift or coast.
