|Mike Wheeler recently returned from a trip to Houston TX. He visited the home shop of the guys behind Cycle Genius Recumbents. He brought back one of their brochures, which conveniently does not list a weight. Mike says they are quite heavy.|
Mike also showed a Houston area bike map. There are several 2-3 mile segments of trail, with one maybe 8-10 miles. but they don't connect into any form of coherent network, (sort of like here, 10 years ago). Perhaps the planners there figure 10 miles is as far as anyone would want to ride in their humidity.
The map also shows on-street lanes, but they are mostly only 2 feet feet wide, crossing deep gullys at drainage basins. Traffic is fast, and not bike friendly. Makes you appreciate Minnesota, even in winter.
